Weekly Word Count

4,962
Um. I guess you can see what that small (but slightly bigger than last week) word count means. It means I worked on Shiny New Idea instead of current WIP this week. Ah--I'm kicking myself right now! When SNI came along my intention was to write out one chapter and a quick summary of everything I knew--then shift all my focus back to current WIP. And when I finished WIP then I could again focus on SNI.
It seemed like a good plan. Except instead of working on WIP this weekend, I wrote Chapter 2 of SNI. I didn't even open WIP's word document.. (Thus the kicking myself comment.) But I think I needed to do that. It made me realize something. SNI isn't so shiny. Two chapters in and I'm already starting to see how hard it will be and how long it take. Suddenly WIP doesn't seem so bad. I mean hey I'm nearly done with that. I already know those characters. I know how it should fit together (even if it currently doesn't). Most of the work has already been put in. Back to WIP it is. (Or so I think.)

Hahaha! That's funny. But at least you wrote something! High point.

I think a lot of writers have multiple projects to work on and I don't think there's any harm in alternating. It's ambitious and ambition is good in this industry. Good luck with both projects! :o)

I love jumping around like this. When I get stuck on one, another project looks easier to work on. As long as I am putting one foot forward, I am happy. :)

You're way ahead of me. Does outlining a novel count? Hmmm. Didn't do too hot on that word count either. :(

I agree with J. Kaye - jumping from one project to another can sometimes be more productive than beating your head against one stubborn, dry story.

Hey, but you're writing and that's what matters the most! Congrats on the word count.

And thanks for visiting my blog today!
