Book Review: CITY OF BONES

Title: City of Bones
Author: Cassandra Clare
Rating:
Good if you're...looking for a book that's a combo of Harry Potter/Twilight
Summary (Amazon):
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder - much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing - not even a smear of blood - to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy? This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know.... Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.

I can't hold back, I've got to tell you my thoughts...
Okay, Okay. Before you start with you pre-judgements about this book, stop. Don't just assume it's going to be weird and too fantasy-ish based on this summary, because that summary didn't really capture me either. It took several people telling me this story was good to actually read it. Even then, after I got it from the library, I still hesitated to read it. But, WOW, I'm glad I did. I've since bought it, read "City of Ashes" (part 2) and am currently on to "City of Glass" (part 3). It's like book crack. What ever will I do once I finish the trilogy?

Okay---So the plot is confusing at times, too fast paced, then not fast enough--and it has a Harry Potter feel (I mean the bad guy's Valentine, sounds alot like Voldermort) but it's worth your while. You will fall for the broken, dark, cynical Jace. Love the fight in Clare. And hurt for Simon. I didn't know I loved these books until the first kiss between Jace and Clare. The author writes with a little too much detail. But when she set up that first kissing scene with Jace, Clare and then Simon...I knew this book was 5 out of 5 material. Read it, at least to that scene. If you don't love it after that...you won't love it. But I guarentee you're heart will stop at that moment.

5 out of 5? Really?
I have the audiobook for it, but it didn't really caught my attention. I guess I should read the book, but it's still not out here yet.
Or I should give the AB another go. Everyone raves about it.
