Book Review: HUSH, HUSH

Title: Hush Hush
Author: Becca Fitxpatrick
Rating:
Good if you...love Twilightisk books: dark, romantic, where the love story leads over the plot

Summary: (Me)
This story is about Nora. A sophmore girl--your average girl--who's not really interested in many boys at school. Until that fateful day in Biology when she gets a new lab partner. Patch. Very emo, dark, mysterious kid. (Does this sound familar?) Nora finds him quite annoying and he knows just how to get under her skin but she also finds herself drawn to him even against her better judgment. Weird stuff starts happening and Nora's not sure who to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. All the evidence says that it's Patch she should be afraid of but she still keeps finding herself attracted to him and watching to trust him. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.

Thoughts...
I just finished Hush, Hush (still confused about the meaning of the title) but I must say this novel, exceeded all my expectations. And I almost didn't read the book. I'm not really sure what was holding me back--the cover art is great, the summary intriguing, but I had my doubts and I'm very, very glad I didn't listen to them. From the start it was suspenseful, romantic, and funny. Filled with wonderfully written, heart-stopping moments between Patch and Nora--which isn't that what we all read YA for anyways?

I really loved this book. Although, like I was hinting at before, it had a Twilight feel as a lot YA books do these days. But it was different, and I recommending reading it. (Whether you're a Twilighter or not.) I feel like this story was a good as it could get, there isn't much I would have changed. It didn't knock me to my feet or anything, but it was good and it didn't diappoint. 4.5/5 rating.

I'm reading this, but on eBook format, so I don't get to it that often (since i'm reading a couple other books, and Glitch. Even heard of it?)
Everyone says it's really good, and I like what I'd read so far. I just get my BIC and just read it.

Liked the book, but I find the connection to Twilight fairly superficial at best: The couple meet in biology class and they're teenagers...that's about it. The story focused more on the action/mystery plot than romance. Maybe the sequel will rectify that.
