50k in 50 Days! - Day Four

It's day four of the 50/50,000 Writing Challenge and I'm at 3,233 words. Yikes. Um, that's not 4,000. I had a super tough day with my 50,000 words/50 days challenge. I ended up editing and thinking too much today. I'm going to spend tomorrow trying to play catch-up.
Word Count: 3,233/50,000

Don't worry, I did too. I really need to go to bed but instead I'm writing and procrastinating on writing (hence this comment). Which isn't good. Something is just not allowing me to go to bed until I finish up my 1k for the day. =/ *currently at 584 words and wants to sleep*

But look how close you are! You're only missing a few hundred words! You are doing great, keep it up!

As important as it is to be disciplined, it's kind of like dieting (in my opinion): one off-day here or there won't kill you. =) stuff happens. Plus, thinking and editing aren't bad at all. In fact, I honestly used to find that spending a whole day doing nothing but revising helped me stay focused (I think because I felt better about what I had written after polishing it up a bit and, thus, was more encouraged to write more).

Good luck catching up tomorrow. Happy writing!

It's so close to 4000 though. You can catch up easily as long as you don't let it overwhelm you!

Whenever I feel a need to edit, I put the info on a Post-It and place the updated info on the page. If needed, I make notes on the page to be edited as well. This moves me forward. I know that once I start editing, I won't stop. It's like some OCD issue. It's taken me a long time to let go and wait until after the first draft to edit.

But look how close you are! I'm lagging so far behind with my 30k in March plan...I'm currently at just under 5k and half the month is over! You're doing great!!

I have a tendency to edit more than I should, but like J. Kaye said...it's kind of an OCD thing.

But a little editing doesn't hurt, I'm telling myself...especially since it does help me refocus and plunge ahead.

And I'm thinking the 1,000 words is like a goal, not an edict. Right?

Like someone mentioned...in a diet, some days are better than others.

That's pretty awesome considering my low word count...we won't discuss that. Ha! We'll do it!
