Book Review: THE BODY FINDER

Title: The Body Finder
Author: Kimberly Derting
Rating:
Good if...you want something softly romantic, yet heart stopping and dramatic at the same time

Summary (Amazon):
Violet Ambrose is grappling with two major issues: Jay Heaton and her morbid secret ability. While the sixteen-year-old is confused by her new feelings for her best friend since childhood, she is more disturbed by her "power" to sense dead bodies—or at least those that have been murdered. Since she was a little girl, she has felt the echoes the dead leave behind in the world . . . and the imprints that attach to their killers. Violet has never considered her strange talent to be a gift; it mostly just led her to find dead birds her cat left for her. But now that a serial killer is terrorizing her small town, and the echoes of the local girls he's claimed haunt her daily, Violet realizes she might be the only person who can stop him. Despite his fierce protectiveness over her, Jay reluctantly agrees to help Violet find the murderer—and Violet is unnerved by her hope that Jay's intentions are much more than friendly. But even as she's falling intensely in love, Violet is getting closer and closer to discovering a killer . . . and becoming his prey herself.

My thoughts...
Wow. I really enjoyed this one. Let me go through all the reasons why. 1. Violet. She was sweet and likable and strong. It was a great combination. Every girl will be able to relate to her. 2. Jay. He was even sweeter and even more likable! I loved the romance that blossomed between him and Violet. 3. The mystery aspect. This book wasn't your typical paranormal romance. Actually the paranormal just lingered in the background. I enjoyed that. It wasn't smashed in your face. Violet and Jay's relationship took the lead which is really what interested me more. --So to reread or not to reread? Re-readable material! I want to own it. There were a couple points were it got a little dry and it wasn't impossible to put down. But other than that very nearly perfect. 4/5 Stars

--In 2011 Kimberly Derting releases another book called DESIRES OF THE DEAD. I'm not positive but I'm hoping this is a sequel.

I SO want to read this!!! But I was kind of worried about the serial killer thing. I don't usually like books like that, they freak me out. But I love that you said the romance takes center stage. That's more my thing :)

I didn't really like it as much as you, but it was still enjoyable. And yes Desires of the Dead is definitely a sequel. I'll be looking forward to reading it.
