Book Review: THE SHORT SECOND LIFE OF BREE TANNER

Title: The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner
Author: Stephenie Meyer
Rating:
Good if...you're a Twilight/Stephenie Meyer fan.

Summary (Amazon):
Fans of The Twilight Saga will be enthralled by this riveting story of Bree Tanner, a character first introduced in Eclipse, and the darker side of the newborn vampire world she inhabits. In another irresistible combination of danger, mystery, and romance, Stephenie Meyer tells the devastating story of Bree and the newborn army as they prepare to close in on Bella Swan and the Cullens, following their encounter to its unforgettable conclusion.
What I thought (very mild spoilers):
Okay so right away you know two things about this. 1. It's short, 192 pages. 2. It's going to end with Bree dead since we all read Eclipse and already know that. --So basically I have mixed feelings towards this books. 60 pages in I was thinking I love this. 150 pages in I was thinking I hate this. First of all I love Stephenie Meyer's writing. It's easy and it sucks you in. I hang on her every word. And I liked Bree. I wished things could have been different for her. But what really infuriated me was Diego. I really liked him. (He's Bree's love interest or I should say possible love interest.) And he disappeared about half way in, with not much later explanation, and after that the rest of the story fell apart for me. I just wished it could have been about 200 pages longer, more of a love story developed between Bree and Diego, and Bree living at the end. Basically a whole new novel, unrelated to Twilight (but still in the same Vampire world) would have pleased me. But it is what is. And I enjoyed it enough to say if you're a fan of Twilight you might want to check it out. (Not really worth buying though.) The biggest hope I got from this short story was that perhaps Stephenie Meyer will have more stories come from her vampire world in the future.

Oh and apparently Edward Cullen is a redhead (as Bree described him). I missed that one when reading Twilight. Huh?

Yeah I was really confused when Bree was talking about the redhead. I thought she was talking about Victoria since I thought Edward has brown hair...

When did he become a redhead? lol

I haven't read this one yet. I know I will at some point - maybe when it turns into a paperback since it is super short and I'm too cheap. Thanks for the review :)

I remember it being mentioned in Twilight once, but I never pictured him as such.

I always hate it when a possible romance never developes, but I'll still buy a copy of this :)
