Book Review: SISTERS RED

Title: Sisters Red
Author: Jackson Pearce
Rating:
Good if...you want something fast paced, action packed, and romantic.

Summary (Amazon):
Scarlett March lives to hunt the Fenris--the werewolves that took her eye when she was defending her sister Rosie from a brutal attack. Armed with a razor-sharp hatchet and blood-red cloak, Scarlett is an expert at luring and slaying the wolves. She's determined to protect other young girls from a grisly death, and her raging heart will not rest until every single wolf is dead.
Rosie March once felt her bond with her sister was unbreakable. Owing Scarlett her life, Rosie hunts ferociously alongside her. But even as more girls' bodies pile up in the city and the Fenris seem to be gaining power, Rosie dreams of a life beyond the wolves. She finds herself drawn to Silas, a young woodsman who is deadly with an ax and Scarlett's only friend--but does loving him mean betraying her sister and all that they've worked for?

My Thoughts:
Jackson Pearce can write! SISTERS RED (the retelling of Little Red Riding Hood) is everything I hoped it to be and more. And where I thought her first novel (AS YOU WISH) to be rather Disney mixed with a little bit up of fluff, I found this novel to be more grown up. The characters were more mature with more depth, and the romance among two of them more intense. I would rate SISTERS RED PG verses the G rating I would give to AS YOU WISH. I loved the action and more intense drama of this one. I want even more of it. I flew through this book. I started reading and just couldn't stop.
I love retellings and I love how Jackson Pearce writes. Her next novel is called SWEETLY and is going to be a retelling of Hansel and Gretel and is supposed to be a companion book to SISTERS RED. Hansel and Gretel scared me as a kid so I'm kind of nervous about this next one. (Due out in 2011)

I really liked this one too. I mostly enjoyed the connection between Scarlett and Rosie. I do love Jackson Pearece's writing style though. It's really beautiful.
