Book Review: SKINNED

Title: Skinned
Author: Robin Wasserman
Rating:
Good if... you want something very interesting and unique with human like robots.

Summary (Amazon):
Lia Kahn was perfect: rich, beautiful, popular -- until the accident that nearly killed her. Now she has been downloaded into a new body that only looks human. Lia will never feel pain again, she will never age, and she can't ever truly die. But she is also rejected by her friends, betrayed by her boyfriend, and alienated from her old life. Forced to the fringes of society, Lia joins others like her. But they are looked at as freaks. They are hated...and feared. They are everything but human, and according to most people, this is the ultimate crime -- for which they must pay the ultimate price.

My Thoughts...
So the basic premise of this story is: Girl gets in a car accident, nearly dies, her mind is put into that of a robot's that looks human, and then the world she thought she knew suddenly looks very different through different eyes. Doesn't the concept of this sound really cool? And it is a very cool. My biggest complaint is that in the beginning of this book it's really slow. A good chunk of this story is just Lia's recovery. She has to relearn how to talk, how to walk, how to do everything. I think the story really took off after that--once she was back in school trying to get back into her normal life. Overall, it wasn't amazing amazing, but it was pretty good and pretty hard to put down once I got into it. I recommend checking it out from the library. 3/5 Stars.

Be sure to check out CRASHED (which I also read 3/5 stars) and soon to come WIRED.
