Wannabe Writers #32

Wannabe Writers is an internet writing group. Everyone is welcome to join. It's a place to meet other writers, ask questions, and get feedback. Click here to find out more about how it works and about some recent changes I've made.

Where I am in the writing process: Unpublished.  Focusing all my energies on my novel GLITCH.  I start this thing 1 year ago.  It's about time I finish it.  Last Week's Word Count: 39,500. This Week's Word Count:  41,751.

My current problem(s):  School.  :(  School started again (I'm a teacher) and now there's no time for writing.  Plus today is my birthday and I'm going to spend today and this weekend otherwise.

My question this week:  How to do you juggle writing and the rest of your life?

I wish I had a solution, but I'm far from it. I'm still juggling, and my life is much less hectic than it used to be. Maybe setting up a schedule? A specific time of day that you can write (or several small chunks of time)?

I find it very difficult to find the time; also, when I do find the time, I feel as though there may be things I'm overlooking in my story (as it is so far between writing sessions) I would love to have an answer myself; I think I will just have to be more proactive and start writing at least once a week (I aim for everyday but there just aren't enough hours in the day) I may have to timetable a time to just sit down and write/edit.

I write instead of sleeping.

Seriously. I write from 12 am til 2 am, sometimes later. I'm back up around 8 am, ready to start school with my son at 9. I'm perpetually exhausted and usually heinously overcaffeinated. I wish there were a better solution.

I hope you had a fabulous birthday! School has become an obstacle these past few weeks for me as well. It's been difficult to get back into the swing of things.

I try to work some time in my day to write, even while I am at school. Sometimes I get up an extra hour early to squeeze some writing in.

#1: Happy belated birthday! September babies are the best. ;D

#2: I wish I had the answer. When you find out, PLEASE let me know. I'm not married and have no children right now, so that helps. Not sure how I'll do it when my time comes. The crazy thing is, I get more writing done during the school year(I'm an educator too) than I do in the summer, during summer vacation. I don't know why.
